Local Plan

@ 28th March 2017

CBC advised that the Council was holding back on the process to publish the Draft Local Plan for consultation whilst waiting for the government’s Housing White Paper which was expected to have implications for the Local Plan.

The Housing White Paper was published on the 7th February and is a significant 100+ page document including a wide range of measures.

Having now considered the implications the Local Plan timetable has been adjusted and CBC will be in a position to take a report on the draft Plan to Executive on the 6th June 2017. They anticipate (subject to Executive approval) that the Draft Local Plan will be published for consultation from the end of June for 8 weeks.

They would like to stress that work has not stopped on the Local Plan during this time; they have continued to focus on ensuring it delivers sustainable high quality development supported by the necessary infrastructure.

The community planning work they have been undertaking has also continued and this extra time has allowed them to complete all of these events before the release of the draft Plan. An assessment of this work to be started which will then inform the following version of the Plan as intended.

Message to Residents @ 27th March 2017:

You can view the draft community plan for your area on the CBC website.

As you are aware, towns and parishes across Central Bedfordshire have been grouped into 15 community areas. An event has been held in each area which used interactive techniques to draw out relevant issues and information from local people who attended the event. Growth ‘themes’ (Local Character, Growth and Infrastructure, Transport, Jobs and Business, Environment, Homes) were explored. The feedback from the Dunton, Everton, Eyeworth, Potton, Sutton, Wrestlingworth and Cockayne Hatley event has been captured and shown in the draft community plan.

We would now like to ask you to have a look at the draft community plan and let us know if you think. Could you please give us your feedback by 7 April 2017

Once we have received the responses and made any necessary changes, we will start to use the plans to help inform our Local Plan and publish them as background documents.

Everton Community Lower School – proposed change of age range

This is to advise you that Central Bedfordshire Council has published a statutory notice (see under Notices in Parish Council Documents) regarding the proposed change of age range for Everton Lower School from 3-9 years to 3-11 years from September 2017.

This is the second and final part of the consultation process, as required by the DfE, for a change of age range for a community school.

The statutory notice, full proposal and the on-line facility for responses are available on the Council’s website here

This statutory period will run for 4 weeks, until 1 February, during which time stakeholders are encouraged to respond to the proposal, preferably via the on-line facility on the Council’s website

Following the conclusion of this statutory process, if the responses received to the statutory notice are favourable, the Executive Member for Education & Skills will determine the proposal at a meeting to be held on 21 March 2017. If there are any new objections submitted to the statutory notice, the Executive will be asked to determine the proposal at their meeting on 4 April 2017.
